Woman of the Dead S2

A woman attempts to investigate her husband’s suspicious murder on her own. During her investigation, she uncovers a huge secret about the killers, endangering the lives of her other family members. We saw this story unfold in the first season, but now Netflix has released the second season of Woman of the Dead on March 19, 2025. Does the second season do justice to its story and its directors, as the first did? Today I finished watching the second season of Woman of the Dead, and in this article, I’ll review the season while exploring its plot and direction.

Woman of the Dead – Season 2

After Anna Maria Mühe’s husband, aka Brünhilde Blum, Massimo Ricci, dies in a car accident, a major change occurs in Blum’s life. We already saw this in the first season. The second season starts slowly. This first season doesn’t immediately resonate with viewers. In the final minutes of Episode 1, when Blum’s daughter is kidnapped, a new tension is created in the story. Because of this, you’ll only be able to connect with the story after watching almost the entire first episode.

Blum becomes extremely distraught after his daughter’s kidnapping and puts all his effort into finding her. The journey is fraught with danger, and along the way, he ends up committing more crimes, although this was never his intention. He’s already in the police’s sights, but after his daughter disappears, he kills several people. Director Nicolai Rohde has carefully crafted the intensity and stakes of these events.

Like the first season, the second season also consists of six episodes. After the first episode, the story develops gradually and attempts to captivate the audience. Nicolai Rohde has revealed all the exciting scenes and plot points in a slow and well-paced manner, making each episode an engaging experience. To protect his daughter, Blum does things he never imagined he would do. To understand why, you’ll have to watch the second season for yourself.

Acting and Background Music in Woman of the Dead

We know that Anna Maria Mühe is the lead actress in this Netflix series. If she had a strong performance in the first season, in the second, her performance is even wilder and more badass. This means she’s outdone herself this time.

I also really liked Andrea Wenzl’s performance as Ute Ricci. This season, she has more screen time, and her character plays a crucial role in the climax. These two women have done an incredible job this season.

Both seasons feature background music composed by Patrick Kirst, who previously collaborated on the Netflix film series The Kissing Booth. His music enhances the crime scenes and the elements of suspense, making them even more intense. I’ve always loved the intro theme music for this series, and the sound effects this season are exceptional.

Positive and Negative Aspects of the Story

Blum’s interactions with the corpses in the first season struck me as a unique and creative element on the part of the creators. This concept continues in the second season as well, which can be considered a positive aspect from a cinematic perspective. I’ve never seen a scene like this before.

However, my biggest complaint about Woman of the Dead is its excessively dark color scheme. Many scenes are filmed or edited in black, making them difficult to understand. The third episode, in particular, seems completely disconnected from the plot. The series could have premiered with only five episodes. But the emotion of the final episode makes up for its flaws. Overall, the second season of Woman of the Dead is worth watching at least once.

Review of the story
Despite its gripping story and high-quality acting, the dark tone and slow pace of Woman of the Dead's second season make it a bit weak, but its powerful climax makes it worth watching.
