“The Life List”, the film by Adam Brooks, premiered on Netflix just a few hours ago. This movie has attracted Netflix users from several countries. “The Life List” is trending on Netflix due to its growing popularity, with Sofia Carson in the lead role. The movie spans genres such as Family Drama and Romance. I have watched it completely and have compiled a list of the good and bad aspects of “The Life List”, which I will reveal in my review.
Plot Summary
Sofia Carson (Alex Rose) works as an Executive Sales Director at her mother’s company. However, her mother, Elizabeth (Connie Britton), never approves of her daughter being involved in the cosmetics business. Since Elizabeth is Alex’s mother, she knows everything about her daughter. Alex is a passionate and energetic girl with many talents, but she lacks confidence. So she takes the easy way out and joins her mother’s company.
Elizabeth, as the founder of Rose Cosmetics, is an extremely wealthy woman. However, despite having immense wealth, she suffers from one of the most dangerous diseases in the world: cancer. She eventually succumbs to this painful disease. Before her death, Elizabeth had already distributed her wealth among her children. In this division, Alex’s siblings receive significant property, but Alex only receives some papers and a list in the will. She was her mother’s favorite, so she cannot believe why her mother did this to her.
The list in the will consists of important steps in Alex’s life that she had always avoided. Before her death, Elizabeth had recorded a video message for each task on the list. Alex could only access each video after completing the respective task. To fulfill his mother’s wishes, he sets out to complete each task on the list. Through this journey, Alex discovers much about herself and her mother.
Performance
Sofia Carson delivers a unique performance as Alex, portraying a girl transitioning from student life to a professional career but choosing the easy path to escape the challenges. It is evident in the film that Sofia has completely immersed herself in the character of Alex. She is a phenomenal 31-year-old actress who has made a name for herself playing several iconic roles at such a young age. In “The Life List,” she plays an amazing character who is very confused about her life.
The supporting cast of “The Life List” has also tried their hand at acting well, but they were not given much screen time as the movie mainly revolves around Alex’s character. However, Kyle Allen (Brad), who plays a professional lawyer, brings a significant change in Alex’s life through his emotional insights. Alex’s mother, Connie Britton (Elizabeth), has also done a commendable job, although her screen time is quite limited. Despite that, her scenes add depth to the film.
Review Conclusion
“The Life List” is not an intense science fiction, action or thriller film. It is simply a family drama that teaches a girl to love her passion. The movie features several good romantic scenes that have been portrayed in a natural way, keeping in mind the gravity of the situations. This means that the romantic scenes have not been forcefully inserted into the movie. “The Life List” will probably appeal more to those who often look for romantic movies.
