A Thousand Blows is the story of two friends. These two friends leave their home to make a better future and come to London, the biggest city of Great Britain. The names of these two friends were Hezekiah Moscow and Alec Munroe. Both of them are natives of Jamaica Island. The first episode of this series starts with their arrival in London.

The theme of this series is on the British colonizer era. When the British Empire had made its colonies almost all over the world, Jamaica was also a part of their colony. Mary gets them a place to stay in a hotel near her home by using her identity. The owner of the hotel in which Hezekiah is staying is a Chinese man named Lao. Mr. Lao’s character is played by ‘Jason Tobin’.

Hezekiah and his friend look for new work because they have very little money left. There is a fighting club near their residence. It is a liquor store, but at night there is secret fighting here. The owners of this hotel are Edward ‘Treacle’ Goodson and Henry ‘Sugar’ Goodson. Both of them fight in a fighting club. They challenge people to defeat them, and if someone defeats them, he gets double the amount of the bet. This fighting club is a betting place where people gamble on fighters.

Alec and Hezekiah come to this fighting club and they see a new opportunity to earn some money here. Alec joins this fighting and he fights with Treacle. In this fight Alec loses badly and injures himself. Both of them leave from there.

Mary encourages Hezekiah a lot and forces him to take part in the fight. Hezekiah fights with Sugar. In this fight, Hezekiah starts dominating Sugar after some time, and seeing his defeat, Sugar’s brother Treacle cheats and defeats Hezekiah.

Seeing Hezekiah’s fighting skills, Mary advises him to fight in the London Boxing Fighting Club and helps him a lot. But Mary’s real motive behind this is something else. Mary is the leader of a female thief gang, who used to steal people’s purse and money. But now Mary plans to do something big. She plans to steal in the British Royal Family House. In return for this work, Hezekiah and Alec ask her for a reward of 200 Pounds.

Hezekiah makes a big name by fighting in the London Boxing Fighting Club. He fights all the rivals of the club and defeats them all. He becomes the biggest boxer of London and now starts on the path of becoming a World Champion.

Sugar used to dream of reaching the position that Hezekiah has reached now. He was a very serious and passionate fighter. He wanted to become a World Champion in boxing. But Hezekiah reaches that stage before him.

Sugar’s character is shown as very negative and psycho in this series. He gets a chance to fight once in London Fighting Club, but he is so angry that he tries to kill his opponent. Due to this act of his, the club head throws him out. Sugar is a very sad and terrible man. He blames Hezekiah for his failure and hates him very much. This hatred of his turns into a terrible form and he does something to Hezekiah, which breaks Hezekiah from inside.
